Adrienne Bernhard

Adrienne Bernhard (editorial assistant of this volume) is a freelance editor and, most recently, assistant to the Deputy Editor at The New Yorker Magazine. She is currently pursuing a second Master’s degree, in Education, at Columbia University. Ms. Bernhard has worked as a freelance writer and editor for numerous periodicals and publishing houses, including Random House, The New York Times, Farrar Straus & Giroux, Encounter Books, The New Criterion, The Jewish Review of Books, and Abroad Magazine.

Ms. Bernhard earned her first Master’s degree, in American Literature, from Yale University in 2008. She presented twice at the American Comparative Literature Association (ACLA) and led a seminar at the 2009 ACLA Conference entitled ‘Global Orientalism: a Paradigm Shift of the East- West Axis.’ During 2007–08, she served as an editor of Volume XI of the YHRDLJ, in which she published commentary on corporate social responsibility.

Ms. Bernhard graduated with departmental honors from Northwestern University in 2006 with a dual degree in English and French and was awarded Northwestern University’s Study Abroad Research Award for her senior thesis. Ms. Bernhard spent her junior year of college abroad at St. Hilda’s College, University of Oxford. She currently lives in New York City.
